Ah yes, another gathering of reasonable centrists.
Bruce, I was wondering when you’d get to the fact that Twain had no more respect for politicians than he did for business titans.
“There is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress,” and “We have the best Congress money can buy” are two of my other Twain favorites regarding politicians.
Speaking of biographies, Ron Chernow’s “Washington: A Life” is so good it borders on spectacular.
Chernow is a phenomenal biographer — his books on J.P. Morgan, Hamilton and Rockefeller are worth every minute spent reading them.
For all of you political junkies out there:
here is a great preview of everything that you will be hearing over the next few days in terms of post election analysis.
there, i have now just saved you several hours of time that you would otherwise waste listening to idiots pontificating as if they had some insight into what is about to happen.
Go spend it with your kids, your significant other, your dog, or volunteer someplace! All of these efforts will help to do some good in the world. Listening to the chattering classes will only hurt.
