You may recall that Senate candidate Al Franken had a bit of political trouble because of his SNL days brainstorming jokes about rape. Not his proudest moment.
So it’s not a big surprise that Senator Al is putting an early focus on building a legislative record of being decidedly anti-rape.
While Franken’s [...]

John McCain did a nice job on Saturday Night Live this evening with an elaborate intro sketch. He did a workmanlike job delivering his lines and reminded us that he has a pretty good sense of humor. The writing was a bit forced as – far more than any other political celebrity walk-ons I’ve seen [...]

In a star-studded pro-Norm Coleman NRSC attack ad, ex-Saturday Night Live cast member Victoria Jackson paints Al Franken as being unfit for celebrity endorsements, noting “We don’t all write dirty jokes for Playboy.”
True enough. But it’s also worth noting that celebrities don’t all label U.S. Senators as “the anti-Christ,” [...]

Tomorrow night Barack Obama’s much discussed 30-minute ad will air in prime time, and the campaign is guarding the format like a state secret.
The possibilities are intriguing. Perhaps it will be a Jerry Lewis-esque telethon to squeeze out that final, desperately needed $150 million for the final five days? Or some kind [...]

Sarah Palin is very, very good on television.
She played her walk-on parts during last night’s Saturday Night Live as well as I’ve seen any politician navigate that gauntlet. She can read from a script effortlessly, she knows how to look at a camera and she has stage presence on par with the permanent cast. She [...]

This is the season when break rooms are abuzz with talk about how much we hate political ads. Goodness knows, it’s fun to lampoon them, as Saturday Night Live did so well this weekend.
Well, I’m the guy who is quiet when the rest of you are complaining. Because I have a confession to [...]

You have to watch the ad to see it (because NBC asserted their copyright to get it pulled from YouTube), but the opening of last night’s Saturday Night Live is hilarious.
Tina Fey is Sarah Palin.

Saturday Night Live is often at its best when it makes us a bit uncomfortable and Amy Poehler’s hilarious riff Saturday night on the current focus of Democratic worry is a classic in this genre. In a single 5-minute skit, she gives voice to the fears that we all tap-dance around in an effort to [...]
